The Midwest Ford Fest is host to two major automotive reunions, both of which are for special Ford models which were originally offered in the Kansas City area.
The Twister Specials were a very limited number of 1970 Mustangs, Torinos, and Rancheros that all celebrated the midwest’s propensity for tornado’s. All were sold in and around the Kansas City area. Several restored examples have sold at auction for more than $150,000. Later versions of the Twister were produced in 1985 and 2008, also in limited numbers. The Dominator Mustang GTs were a dealer performance package originally installed on Fox body Mustangs, and sold by Summit Ford out of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Dominator GTs were produced by Summit Ford from 1982-1986, while a second generation of cars were crafted by R&A Motorsports. For more information on the Dominator GT’s and the reunion, click here.
